These are also used as subjects of a sentence. They are almost always singular.Example: Each of the players is doing his or her part well.Example: Every one has to go to the forest tomorrow.Here, one might think it's players that is the main subject, but no. It's "Each" that is the main subject. And "Each" is a singular subject. Same for "Every".But "Some" can be used with both Singular or Plural verbs. Based on the countability of the modifier.Example: Some of the sugar is on the floor.Example: Some of the marbles are on the floor.In these 2 examples, we see that "sugar" is uncountable. Thus, "is" is used. But "marbles" can be counted, and so "are" is used in this case.<h2>Collective nouns:</h2>Collective nouns such as group, jury, crowd, team, etc are singular by default but can be plural depending on the meaning.Example: The jury has passed the verdict yesterday.Example: The jury members have passed the verdict yesterday.In the first example, we see that the collective noun "jury" is treated as singular entity.
